The “Study” was created during a four week summer residency at Right Window in San Francisco, 2009. Right Window are housed in part of the ATA (Artists Television Access) building who are known for experimental video distribution and screenings. With this in mind I decided to draw on the work of avant-garde film-maker May Deren, in particular “Ritual in Transfigured Time”. The deconstructed, fractured party scene combines with a fragment from The Associates, song “Party Fears Two” to create a Becktian lament.
